Solomon’s Vision and Business Success!

It has been said that Solomon was the wisest man that lived! He certainly had great insight into the human heart and our struggles in life. Over the years as I’ve read his writings; I’ve become aware of just how common his sense of wisdom.

He didn’t specifically write about business. But he did offer us a great deal of fresh insight into how to live life in ways that saved us from our human foibles. And if we take to heart his wisdom; we can apply to every aspect of our lives, including our business and professional lives.

One of my favorite pieces of Solomon wisdom is recorded in Ecclesiastes Chapter 4, verses 7 through 12. . . “I also And 3 is Even Betterobserved another piece of foolishness around the earth. This is the case of a man who is quite alone, without a son or brother. . . . Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better. . .  Also on a cold night, two under the same blanket gain warmth from each other, but how can one be warm alone? And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer, three is even better, for a three braided cord is not easily broken.” (abridged)

Simple practical wisdom stated in a simple practical way!

Okay, Solomon. . . so what?

So what does his observation of human foolishness have to do with the business success Christian women desire to achieve? What can we take away from the wisdom of Solomon that is as practically sensible today as it was when Solomon penned it eons ago?

  1. The best course of action is to at least add another person to our business journey. Call it a partnership if you want, whether in a legal sense or simply a framework that works for both of you!
  2. While 2 is better than 1; adding a 3rd is the wisest decision we can make. Solomon says that the “triple-braided cord is not easily broken”. There’s something about a threesome that adds courage, strength, boldness and determination to each indvidual that is not present when we are alone; or with only one other.
  3. As a Christian woman in business, I believe Solomon’s wisdom encourages us to add the power and presence of the Lord and His Spirit to our business plan. . . and to the mix of companions with whom we engage in business.
  4. Knowing and understanding PAPA God’s written words in Scripture is as important as any business manual we’ll read. Knowing and understanding Who He is, how He operates, the relationship He has with us and we with Him are all very important. And grasping a sense of what works spiritually and supernaturally helps us avoid the many potholes found on the path to success!

Solomon’s observation is just the tip of the iceberg. . . Building Community

Those of you who have hung out with me over the past nearly 10 years know that my passion is to build a safe place for Christian women in business. A safe place to hang out together for numerous important reasons. The 3-ply cord observation by Solomon is just the tip of an iceberg as far as I’m concerned. Business success rides on the heels of a willingness to gather together in mutual support so that all eventually benefit from multiple 3-ply cords strung together to form a tribe. A community of like-minded women who accomplish more together. Simply because both ancient and conventional wisdom says that it’s foolishness to do it any other way!

Over the next several weeks, I’m going to share what is deepest in my heart as it relates to helping Christian women become all they are designed to be. A design that fulfilled is each woman’s destiny. To arrive at that point in our lives takes time, energy, effort, prayer and the companionship of those who will tell us like it is; and love us no matter what!

While I ponder the next several posts, I encourage you to ponder the value of finding, joining and hanging out with other Christian women traveling a similar road to whom you just may be a “God-send”. And that they may be the same for you!
